This is PDF file of the PPT that I presented as a keynote speech at International
Symposium on Engineering Lessons Learned from the Giant Earthquake held
on March 3-4, 2012, Kenchiku-kaikan, Tokyo, Japan, organized by jointly
Japan Association for Earthquake Engineering, Architectural Institute of
Japan, Japan Society of Civil Engineers, The Japanese Geotechnical Society,
The Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers, and Seismological Society of
Japan. It includes a revised source model for short-period motions from
the 2011 Mw 9.0 Tohoku earthquake. The short-period source model in the
extended abstract of the Symposium shows only the short-period source model
presented in the special issue of EPS 2011 for the 2011 Mw 9.0 Tohoku earthquake.
